Ok, call me a huge geek, but sometimes I wonder what I would do if I encountered a famous person. I would HOPE that I can be the play it cool type and just say "hey [insert name]" ever so nonchalantly.
If it is a celebrity I am a fan of, I might try to take it to the next level and say something insightful about the person's work.
I don't think I would gush and scream and engage in any other form of hysterics, but that isn't a guarantee it wouldn't happen. Because I do like to give credit where credit is due and voice my admiration for people.
On the other hand, maybe I would sit there tongue-tied, in awe, not uttering a peep.

I'm going to have to test myself on this one, too, because the building I'm moving into (yes, I'm moving ... but I won't "blog" about it) (and don't worry, I'll still be in Manhattan) is also the home of Richard Dreyfuss, whom I adore!
Oh, and P.S. I can't believe I actually forgot this, but I ran into Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward a few years ago in the lobby of a theater during intermission. I managed to talk to them like they were "ordinary" people, and they proved to be extraordinary in their grace and manner. It was Joanne Woodward who gushed her thanks when I told her how much I admired her work. Paul Newman was more quiet, but no less gracious.
